My interest was initially sparked with the circulation benefits and joint mobility and how it could assist my patients with Canine Performance Systems. I have used it mainly on dogs to date. Most dogs quite like it and we start them off on a low level to get them used to it. They generally like it on the second and third setting on the canine mat. We have also used it in a patient with urinary problems, prostititis, and we treated this with CPS. The prostate was swollen and the urethra was stretched and when he was nervous, he was unable to urinate. Drugs like Valium did not help his condition at all. However, we found the CPS helped the dog relax so he was able get a more normal process happening with urination again. We have used the system after cruciate surgery also to assist in healing and in conjunction with other therapies to treat lipomas as the increase in circulation is useful here. There is always a great benefit with increasing circulation and we have had a couple of our patients owners use it too

We have found the dogs are not thrashing upon walking at all needing much less pain medication after surgery with using CPS. We are also finding their rate of recovery is increased greatly and mobility is improved more quickly and they are walking much faster. There is no redness and inflammation in recovery in these dogs, indicating the increased circulation is assisting healing. The wounds are also healing much faster. One dog in particular has had two cruciate surgeries and each time, when the dog gets to day 6 after CPS treatment he becomes lame as the effects wear off. Also after another CPS treatment on the mat, he is a new dog. This has occurred weekly for six weeks after surgery and we administer CPS each week and it is now walking on its own without pain. As soon as you bring out the mat, the dog sits there and smiles and you can see he enjoys it.
